If you haven’t heard of The Gaslight Anthem then I’m not sure what rock you’ve been under, but it’s time to come out into the light of the sun. I’m teasing, of course, but truly the band is deserving of its more recent fame and popularity. Tomorrow, their latest album, Handwritten, is coming out to rave reviews, and I, for one, can’t wait to buy it.
I could wax poetic about the band and the music, but I’ll let NPR do it for me. From NPR’s First Listen of the new album: “You may have heard every ingredient before, but in this particular concoction, they all sound amazing — all blood and guts, life and death, youth and danger, wistful memories and thwarted lust. If there were a psychotropic drug that made users feel like James Dean, Handwritten would render it redundant.”

They’re still around and they’re still close with him.
