Fanwork Friday: The Starring Role #dero #awz

Another fantastic fanvid about Deniz and Roman from Alles was zählt (All That Matters). This one is a Roman character study from the early days of their relationship. I hated Deniz during this time period, but Roman wasn’t an easy person to deal with either. He wasn’t a delicate flower. Anyway, yeah, this was lovely to see.

Oh, Roman,  you were such a brat and such a darling. I loved you.

Training Season can be purchased at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, ARe, and Smashwords. And also on iBooks.
Unquestionably talented figure skater Matty Marcus is willing to sacrifice everything for his Olympic dream, but his lack of discipline cost him the gold once before. Now the pressure’s on. He needs a coach who can keep him in line, but top coaches don’t come cheap, and Matty can’t afford to stay in the game no matter how badly he wants to win.
When a lucrative house-sitting gig brings him to rural Montana, Matty does his best to maintain his training regimen. Local residents turn out to be surprisingly tolerant of his flamboyant style, especially handsome young rancher Rob Lovely, who proves to be much more than a cowboy stereotype. Just as Matty requires a firm hand to perform his best on the ice, Rob shows him how strong he can be when he relinquishes control in the bedroom. With new-found self-assurance, he drives himself harder to go straight to the top.
But competition has a timetable, and to achieve his Olympic dream, Matty will have to join his new coach in New York City, leaving Rob behind. Now he must face the ultimate test. Has he truly learned how to win—on and off the ice—during his training season?

Fanwork Friday: Back to the Beginning – Deniz & Roman, Alles was zählt #awz #fandom #video

Wow. Why do the Germans make me cry with their gay soap couples? Okay, fine, why do all soaps make me cry about their gay couples, regardless of nationality? Oh, Roman. My heart.

This is such a good, good, good, good video.

Fanworks Friday: The Scientist

You’ll need to follow this lovely link to watch a really beautiful fanvid. It’s not even a show that I watch (anymore), but I thought it was gorgeous and beautifully done. Go on over and have a gander. I know there are a couple of hoops to jump through, but it’s worth it.

28 Days of Holiday Music: Day 5: A Winter’s Carol & Fanwork Friday

Photobucket

For the month of December, I’m going to combine Fanwork Friday and my Holiday Music fest. The first example is this wonderful video by Hikaru77 featuring the song “A Winter’s Carol” from Midwinter Graces combined with footage from the 2002 film Snow Queen to make this really gorgeous fanvid.

As a bonus, PS 22 Chorus performed this back in 2009. Those kids are always inspiring! Check them out!

Fanwork Friday: The World Spins Madly On

There are different kinds of fans in this world, obviously. This is a fanwork (more like gorgeous, heartstopping, fanart) by someone who clearly deeply loves The Weepies. Or, at the very least, this song by The Weepies.

To quote the artist, Ryan Woodward, from his site:

For the past 15 years, most of my artwork has been viewed in a commercial venue…Hollywood. This project, an exhibition of figurative works and experimental animation, leaves behind my traditional artistic preferences of the narrative and enters the realm of individual interpretation.

I think what I’m reacting to in his creation, and which rings true to me with fanworks in general, is that he has left behind a commercial venue for his work, turning instead to the ‘realm of individual interpration’. So much of fanwork is about taking what was once commercial and appropriating it for oneself in an individual way, putting one’s own experiences and interpretations onto it.

I doubt that this artist would necessarily see his piece as a fanwork, but I do. And since this is my blog, let’s say it is. Whatever your thoughts on whether it qualifies as a fanwork, it is beautiful. Do watch it.

Fanwork Friday: Avatar: The Last Airbender Crafts

So, you might have noticed a trend with the Fanwork Fridays. I promise it won’t always be this way, but, yes, there has been a lot of Teen Wolf, and now you will see a second mention of Avatar: The Last Airbender. That’s because my daughter is way into Avatar and, um, maybe I am way into Teen Wolf, okay? There is no shame in fangirling!

While looking around Etsy for some fangirly stuff for my kiddo for Christmas, I found out that people make all kinds of awesome Avatar things. Check it out!

This is not Avatar: The Last Airbender related, obviously, but, guys, I think there are some Doctor Who fans who might love this.

Etsy and fans! They are like peanut butter and jelly! Or peanut butter and chocolate! Or chocolate and marshmallow! Or, if you hate chocolate, then like strawberries and cream! Hope you enjoyed this installment of Fanwork Friday. Please click through on the pics to purchase from the creators or to check out the other work in their shops.
